To some people, the term "mission trip" sounds very scary and intimidating. A lot of people just don't know what to do with that word! What does it really mean? What does it look like? Is it really something that I can do?
So let's just take the so called "scariness" out of missions:
HELPING PEOPLE is not scary.
PLAYING WITH KIDS is not scary.
PACKING SANDWICHES is not scary.
PAINTING FURNITURE and ORGANIZING is not scary.
ENGAGING IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE GOOD NEWS is not scary.
So then what part about taking some time away from your busy summer schedule, to sacrifice your time and energy to devote it to the Lord through serving His children could possibly be SCARY?! There is always a little fear in doing something new. But if you listen closely enough to the Lord, you might be reminded that He promised that He would always be with us. No matter what. Who knows, maybe your new best friend is already signed up for our next trip? Or maybe there is a homeless woman waiting in city center for YOU to bring her to Christ?
