Washington DC: Our Nation's capital.
Land of the Free.
Home of the Brave.
Our wonderful country was founded upon freedom and opportunity. Most of you are probably reading this blog from your own personal computer, in your home surronded by furniture and a fridge filled with food. You have card in your wallet and maybe even a little cash and change there, too. In many ways, you are living better than the rest of this world. But have you ever stopped to think that maybe you are living better than most of the United States residents? Better than most of your brothers and sisters right down the road?
Beleive it or not, but homelessness is still a growing epidemic in this country. This is a silent condition here that many people are afraid to talk about. Due to the recent recession, many families are being forced out of their homes and trying to find safety in overcrowded shelters, but many of them end up sleeong under bridges and on the streets. And many of these families are homeless in our nation's capital: the land of the free.
Sadly enough, many of these people have lost hope and trust in Jesus Christ. They are so consumed in their current situations, that they cannot see the bigger picture, and the love of God working in their lives. THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! By coming on one of our DC missions trips, you will have the oportunity to show a new form of kindness to these people. These are your bothers and sisters in Christ. They are not weird or unhuman at all. In fact, they are just waiting for someone to look at them and talk to them like they are real people. By volunteering in the soup kitchen and striking up conversations with these friends on the streets, you will create friendships that will last a lifetime, and truly make an impact on God's Kingdom here on earth, as it is in Heaven!
Come and join us to impact this community in a tangible way. One smile, one hello can change a person's life forever. Don't miss out on your chance to share this love right in your backyard.
