Washington DC, our nation's capital. A city in most of our backyards. A city that is filled with political power, hope for our great nation, and unbelievable strength of our people.
Most would consider this city quite average and typical of the country. Both rich and poor reside here, with fancy cars driving past the homeless in underpasses. A city where large, well kept mansions sit closely to overcrowded soup kitchens. The difference between money and the complete lack of it is very stark here. So what does that have to do with your comfort zone?
I don't know what end of the spectrum you are currently in. You might be right in the very middle! Regardless, it is our goal to push you to a new place, a new level. On an Adventures' mission trip, we want you to discover something new about the world, about yourself, about God.
Our founder, Seth Barnes, wrote a quote about comfort zones in his latest book Kingdom Journey's: Rediscovering the Lost Spiritual Discipline.
How many times have you slept on a church floor? Have you ever passed out food to a homeless person? Wouldn't you love the opportunity to pray for a random stranger on the street? How often do you sleep on a church floor and share a bathroom with 30 other people you just met? I'm sure you spend most of your days cleaning up trash off a hillside, with a sack lunch then after a devotion you prepare to read stories to underpriviledged children for the rest of the afternoon.
Some of those things might be very common for you. If so, AWESOME! Come on our trip and take those acts to th next level! If none of those things are familiar to you, AWESOME! Come on our trip to safely try all of those! The Christian Lifestyle is not easy or comfortable. It was created to be radical, complicated and difficult. That is what God wants for us. He wants us to get to a place where we are uncomfortable and nervous, almost, because it is there in that place, when we seek full dependence on Him. And once we get there, GREAT things can happen… Great things can happen.
You don't want to miss out on this fun, and the chance to get outside of your comfort zone and serve!
