Happy birthday to ME!
Happy birthday to ME!
Happy birthday to me, one of the Project Leaders whom everyone has only known for a couple of days and yet I was showered with love and grace not only from my team but from all of the amazing kids from Cornerstone Schools and then got to go to a Smithsonian and bounce around to great worship songs with the greatsest Adventures missions team ever while my phone blew up with messages from around the world…
Happy birthday to ME!
Well, Wednesday was my birthday! And let me tell you, it was one of the best birthdays I have ever had. And I've had quite a few ;]
Getting an early 5:30am start to my day was probably not ideal for birthday festivities, however when I went down the stairs into breakfast, I was serenaded by joyus voices of all of my family team. Receiving hugs from fellow team members of 5yrs of age, all the way up to…just over 5yrs of age, was such a blessing!
Spending all morning at Cornerstone School where I was able to play on the plaground with 4th graders, read stories to kindergartners, practice spelling with 2nd graders, score in math basketball with 3rd graders and engage in make beleive with the pre-k classes!! But seeing my team of families smiling faces as the kids were appreciating their Christ love and service for just a snippit of time in their lives, had to have been the greatest gift of all.
Not to sound cheesey, but I found myself almost in tears that whole morning! And I do not consider myself to be a crier, by any means. However, what a sheer blessing it was to be surrounded by such love and service on "my special day". I know some people will wonder and laugh when they asked me what my birthday looked like, and make jokes that I can have a whole birthday WEEK to celebrate in all the ways needed… But what could have been better on that day?!
I live a great, fufilling, blessed life. My birthday could not have been better. Washington DC is such a great city. Adventures in Missions teams are so amazing. Our ministry partners in Lincoln Heights, DC are spectacular! Participants are so joyful. God is so good.
Galatians 6:9
So let's not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don't give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.
